Potential Abstract: Recent advancements in artificial intelligence, particularly in the form of large language models such as ChatGPT, have sparked conversations around their potential implications for education. This study employs a Marxist lens to explore how the utilization of ChatGPT within the educational milieu can shape and perhaps reinforce existing power dynamics, hierarchies, and inequalities. Specifically, we examine the ways in which the design and implementation of ChatGPT may perpetuate or challenge marginalization and oppression within educational settings. Drawing on the principles of connectionism, we investigate how the algorithms underpinning ChatGPT interact with and influence the construction of knowledge, identity formation, and learning experiences for students. Through this analysis, we aim to shed light on the complex interplay between technological innovation, educational practices, and societal structures, with a focus on understanding the potential implications for pedagogy, equity, and social justice.
