Potential Abstract: This research article explores the potential of incorporating behavioral economics principles and augmented reality (AR) technologies to enhance cognitive affordances in educational settings. Cognitive affordances refer to the opportunities and resources that facilitate cognitive processes, such as attention, perception, memory, and problem-solving, to promote learning outcomes. Drawing upon research in cognitive psychology, behavioral economics, and educational technology, this study investigates how leveraging AR environments and applying behavioral economic strategies can create educational regimes that optimize cognitive affordances.
The article begins by discussing the theoretical framework for understanding cognitive affordances and their impact on learning. It then delves into the emerging field of augmented reality in education, highlighting its potential to create immersive and engaging learning experiences. Next, the article explores the principles of behavioral economics and their applicability to educational contexts. By leveraging insights from behavioral economics, educators can design interventions and instructional strategies that guide and support learners’ decision-making processes, fostering optimal cognitive engagement.
The research methodology employed in this study consists of a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques. The study includes both experimental and observational components, involving the implementation of AR-based educational interventions in real-world classroom settings. Data on students’ cognitive processes, learning outcomes, and their engagement with the AR regime are collected through observations, interviews, surveys, and pre- and post-assessments.
The findings of this research have implications for educational practitioners, policymakers, and researchers. By understanding and harnessing cognitive affordances through the integration of behavioral economics and AR technologies, educators can create transformative learning environments that promote deeper engagement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In addition, this study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the effective integration of emerging technologies and behavioral economics principles in educational contexts.
