Discrete Statistics Exploration in Education: Leveraging Jupyter Notebooks and Cloud Technologies for Critical Conversations on Neoliberal Trends

Potential Abstract:
In this research article, we explore the integration of discrete statistics education within the context of modern educational technologies, namely Jupyter notebooks and cloud platforms. Focusing on the intersection of data literacy and critical pedagogy, we investigate how these tools can be leveraged to facilitate meaningful conversations around neoliberal trends in education. By utilizing Jupyter notebooks, students and educators can engage with real-world datasets, perform statistical analyses, and visualize results in an interactive and collaborative manner. The integration of cloud technologies further enables seamless access to computing resources, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment.

Through a qualitative case study approach, we examine the experiences of graduate students in an advanced statistics course that incorporates Jupyter notebooks and cloud-based tools. Our analysis highlights how these technologies support critical thinking skills, data interpretation, and the application of statistical concepts to educational research. Furthermore, we discuss the implications of using such tools to engage in dialogues on neoliberal ideologies within the education sector.

This study contributes to the growing body of literature on the intersection of data science, education, and social critique. By emphasizing the importance of integrating discrete statistics education with contemporary technological tools, we advocate for a more holistic and socially conscious approach to data literacy in educational contexts.
