Exploring Sociopolitical Affordances in the Metaverse: A Transnational Metalogue

Potential Abstract: This research study delves into the sociopolitical affordances present in the emerging metaverse environment, focusing on its implications for transnational educational practices. The metaverse, a virtual reality space that transcends physical boundaries, offers a unique platform for interaction, collaboration, and learning. Understanding the sociopolitical dynamics within this digital realm is crucial for educators and policymakers as they navigate the complexities of global education. Through the lens of transnationalism, this study explores how individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds engage with the metaverse, negotiate power dynamics, and co-construct knowledge in a shared digital space. Drawing on the concept of metalogue, which emphasizes dialogic communication and mutual understanding, this research aims to uncover the ways in which sociopolitical factors influence educational interactions in the metaverse. By examining the affordances of the metaverse in facilitating cross-cultural exchanges and promoting social justice initiatives, this study seeks to shed light on the transformative potential of digital environments in fostering inclusive and equitable educational practices on a global scale.
