Potential Abstract:
Abstract: This research article examines the potential of integrating authentic concept maps and ChatGPT in a disruptive policy environment. With the increasing emphasis on authentic assessments and student-centered learning, concept maps have gained recognition as a valuable tool for assessing and promoting deep understanding of complex concepts. ChatGPT, a state-of-the-art language model, offers the potential to provide personalized and engaging feedback to students, facilitating their conceptual development and promoting metacognitive skills. This study explores the synergistic effects of merging these two technologies in the context of a disruptive policy environment that demands innovative assessment strategies.
Through a mixed-methods research design, this study investigates the impact of authentic concept maps and ChatGPT on student learning outcomes, engagement, and perception of feedback quality. A sample of secondary students from diverse backgrounds will participate in a quasi-experimental study, where they will create concept maps on selected topics and receive personalized feedback from ChatGPT. The study will employ pre- and post-tests, surveys, and interviews to collect quantitative and qualitative data.
The findings of this research will contribute to the understanding of the effectiveness of authentic concept maps and ChatGPT in promoting deep learning and metacognitive skills. Moreover, it will shed light on the value of integrating technology in disruptive policy environments, where traditional assessment methods may not align with the desired educational outcomes.
